We’d actually planned to be there too, but unfortunately it didn’t work out. Today was SeeYa’s (Vai Avanti Ylva) debut – and what a debut it was!🤩 There were plenty of ‘firsts’ for SeeYa. She was the first daughter of Vienna to be born, the first to get her driving licence and now also the first to take part in a competition! And SeeYa decided she wanted to carry on that tradition and WIN HER FIRST RACE, and as if that wasn’t enough, she also set a new TRACK RECORD OF 18.92‼️ (Before the final, there was a fault with the starting boxes, so they decided to move the race to the 290-metre mark). We’re so incredibly proud of you, SeeYa!🩷

Today, Vai Avanti Xtreme was at the starting line. It was the first time Moos had run on a track with a different layout, and it showed 🫣😅 In the first and second heats, Moos couldn’t find his way and got off to a poor start twice, which is unlike him. He didn’t manage to show his full potential, so it was off to the B final. In the final, it was clear that he now knew what he had to do 😅 He ran an incredible race and managed to win the B final!❤️ But the 🍒 on the cake was that Mister Moos managed to win the Windhound Champions League‼️ He beat the 73‼️ dogs that took part in the weight-class races. Thanks again to Merel and Sander for taking Moos along on every adventure! Congratulations to Peter and Carina on the incredible season our brindle lad has had ❤️

Today the WM Revanche in Gelsenkirchen was on the programme.

113 whippets lined up today, including 3 from our kennel: Vai Avanti Xamali and Xtreme in the featherweight class and Vai Avanti Tiamo in the veterans' class for standard size.

For Vai Avanti Xamali we knew today would be a very tough day, as she had only just come back from a minor injury after the collision in Geldrop, and because of the large number of dogs in her class.

In the first round she ran incredibly cleverly and won her race. Because of a slight hesitation at the start, her time was 'only good' for 11th place out of the 27 girls in her class. We then let her run a second time in the hope that she would improve her time, but sadly that didn't work out. She finished 5th in the C final, and over the coming weeks we'll be working on rebuilding her confidence.

Vai Avanti Xtreme had 6 dogs in his class today. He amazed us with an incredibly strong first run, setting the fastest time in his weight class. To our surprise he missed his start in the final and came out of the box last 🫣. He fought his way back and still managed a lovely 2nd place 🥈. Well done, Moos!

Vai Avanti Tiamo, our old hand, pulled it off today 🤩 In the first run he SURPRISINGLY shot out of the boxes like a rocket 😅, even set a new personal best of 17.77 and won his first run. In the final I didn't expect luck to smile on us twice, but he got a brilliant start again and went on to win the WM Revanche ❤️‍🔥

In Geldrop stond dit weekend de Europa Cup op het programma

Op zaterdag liep Leroy (Vai Avanti You Got The Moves Like Jagger 💙) een proefloop in een prachtige tijd van 22,85 – zijn eerste keer op die baan!

Op zondag begonnen we met onze andere twee jongelingen, SeeYa (Vai Avanti Ylva 🩷) en Nixy (Vai Avanti Yiruma 🩵). Zij mochten allebei ook een proefrun lopen en deden dat in veelbelovende tijden! 22,75 voor SeeYa en 22,63 voor Nixy. Deze meiden gaan een veelbelovende toekomst tegemoet!

In de wedstrijd deden Moos (Vai Avanti Xtreme ❤️) en zus Mayzie (Vai Avanti Xamali 💜) mee in de lichtste gewichtsklasse en Flappie (Vai Avanti Tiamo ❤️) in de veteranenklasse.

Meneer Moos had een geweldige eerste ronde! Een fantastische start en een zeer spannende finish, waardoor hij met de vierde tijd doorstootte naar de A-finale! In de finale wist deze kleine raket een prachtige derde plaats te behalen 🥉 ❤️

Juffrouw Mayzie had ook een ongelooflijke eerste ronde! Een geweldige start, waarbij ze van begin tot eind aan de leiding bleef. Ze klokte de zevende tijd in haar gewichtsklasse, waardoor ze door ging naar de tweede ronde in de hoop haar tijd te verbeteren. Helaas had ze een slechte start en liep ze niet echt zoals we van haar gewend zijn, dus geen verbetering van haar tijd en het werd de B-finale. In de finale had ze een redelijke start, maar we zagen dat er iets aan haar knaagde en ze eindigde als 5e. Na het bekijken van de video van de eerste ronde bleek dat ze bij de finish behoorlijk hard geraakt was en we denken dat ze wat rust en een bezoek aan de osteopaat nodig heeft!❤️‍🩹

Mister Flappie 😅 Helaas stonden er deze keer slechts 3 veteranen bij de start. In de eerste ronde verraste hij ons met een prachtige 2e plaats achter Tanqueray in een tijd van 18,28 en daar waren we al heel blij mee! Helaas waren WarPony en Tanqueray voor de finale allebei geblesseerd, dus mocht hij alleen in de finale lopen. Hij verbeterde zijn tijd in de finale naar 18,13 🤩

I NEVER EXPECTED THIS IN MY LIFE!

Vai Avanti Tiamo, the lightest male of the day, set the second-fastest time in his weight class in the first round.

He slightly missed his start in the final and got bumped a few times on the straight, but still managed a lovely 4th place!❤️

Vai Avanti Xamali…. Mayzie, what a performance today 🤩

Never, ever did I expect this! In the first round she had a terrible start! But she ran brilliantly and set the fourth-fastest time for the final. In the second round she was fantastic! A good start, a beautiful race, and she improved her time to the second-fastest in her weight class! I was already happy with what she showed us in the second round, but Mayzie had other ideas 😅

In the final Cataleya and Vanilla Blue Sky got a brilliant start and Mayzie was lying fourth going into the bend. Then Cataleya and Vanilla Blue Sky collided in the bend, and Mayzie took full advantage by passing them on the outside – and she never let go of the lead!

Mayzie's fourth race today. This girl still has a lot to learn. In the first round she finished second in a (for her) brilliant time of 22.46. As no time was known from the other race in her weight class, she started the final in the blue jacket.

After a so-so start she still had to find her way through the pack, but she managed a lovely 4th place!💜

Without thinking, I entered Flappie in the veterans' class – forgetting that Belgium has an UNBELIEVABLE rule that you're only a veteran once you're 6.5 years old 🙄 So we decided to let him run in the 'normal' competition. Off to the scales, and once again the lightest male of the day 😅 We knew it would be a tough race, with lots of young, fast males in his weight class. In the first round, a bad start and a bit of a scuffle with Fenrir at the start, but then he set off after Fenrir, hunting for that first place. A beautiful round and a brilliant time of 21.92 (we haven't run 350 m this year 😅) – he set the fourth-fastest time and qualified for the A final. Then came the final, with a (SHOCKING!) bad start 😂 He finished third behind two incredibly young, fast dogs ❤️

But the highlight of the day was finally seeing our little girl SeeYa (Vai Avanti Ylva) again 💕 Thank you Klaudia and Adrian for taking such good care of her! She looks amazing!🤩

Where do I begin 🥹 Today VAI AVANTI XTREME was on the start line as the lightest boy!

In the first round Moos already earned a lovely fourth place for the final, even though we knew this was a pretty tough race, in which he was the only boy in his class among lots of fast girls 🤩

In the second round he won his race 🤩

And then the final….

In the black jacket 🖤, with a brilliant start, he swung round the pack in the first bend behind Viper, who'd made a fantastic start. He went hunting for that first place. He made it so incredibly close that they had to wait for the prize-giving to see which place he'd got. Sadly the track was just a little too short 🤪 Congratulations to Viper on winning the Dutch championship! BUT XTREME(ly) proud of DUTCH VICE-CHAMPION VAI AVANTI XTREME 🥹🤩❤️

Every beautiful fairy tale comes to an end….

This isn't the post I was planning or hoping to write at this point, but sometimes things don't go to plan….

Sadly, Vienna tore her gracilis after training in Hyvinkäa 😢

We have therefore decided to retire her from racing…

Thank you, Vienna, for every adventure we've shared, for always giving your all, and simply for being the very best girl in the world to me!

The furthest stop on our holiday, where the plan was for our two now-seasoned veterans to race.

Sadly things didn't quite go to plan, but we still tried to make the best of it!

So today only Vai Avanti Tiamo was on the start line, in the veterans' class for standard-sized dogs. With four dogs entered, he had to run 2 x 280 m, and the winner was decided on combined times.

In the first round he had a bad start (as usual 🤪) but worked his way past the others to win his round in 18.02!

In the second round, after another bad start 🤣, he won again, in 18.06 ☺️

That made Vai Avanti Tiamo the winner of the Juhannus race in the veterans' class for standard-sized males ❤️

At the end of the race meeting our youngsters also got the chance to run a round, and they were AMAZING!

Yesterday was the Gelsenkirchen Grand Prix!

On the start line were Vai Avanti Xtreme and Vai Avanti Thiago

Vai Avanti Xtreme ran in the Featherlight class for males

Where he took a lovely 3rd place in the final 🥉❤️

Vai Avanti Thiago ran in the veterans' class, where the lure stopped halfway through the final and the dogs simply kept running, so they were placed on their first-round times. He finished 2nd behind WarPony 🥈

Today was the first race for our own dogs.

On the start line were Vai Avanti Tiamo and Vai Avanti Xamali.

Vai Avanti Xamali was the lightest dog of the day 🤪, just as Sandra said to me: "This girl always gives 200%", and that's just how Mayzie is 💜. Although it was her first run, she finished third, which gave her the seventh-fastest time in her category.

It was the first time Vai Avanti Tiamo ran in the Veterans' class, as he turned 6 last week. For him it was like being back in the A class, because he was running against WarPony again 😁 Surprisingly he had a brilliant start and stayed close to WarPony up to the first bend, after which he had to give up some ground. WarPony finished first in 17.79 and Flappie took a lovely second place in 18.00.

Because of the weather and the track being too wet and dangerous, it was decided to call off the rest of the round, so the dogs were placed on the times they had run in the first round.

That meant first place in the B final for Mayzie and second place among the veterans for Flappie!

On to the next race, hopefully with slightly better weather

Moos ran two brilliant heats and secured a place in the A final with the fifth-fastest time!

With a brilliant start in the final, he behaved like a true gentleman and let his best friend and her sister go ahead of him.

Today the 3 Hartenren was on the schedule, with Vai Avanti Xtreme on the start line for his very first race! As the lightest little male of the day at 11kg, he ran in the light class, where males and females raced together. In the first round, a nice start and a fine 2nd place behind Britney. And then the final! After a bad start he wriggled his way through the pack and won the final convincingly! So incredibly proud of you Moosje! Can't wait to see what the future holds for you! Peter and Carine, thank you so much for taking such good care of our little stripy boy! Merel and Sander, thank you for getting him into top condition!

Finally home after a long weekend. Hard to believe, but this was our first race of the year. A debut for Mayzie (Vai Avanti Xamali) and a comeback for Flappie (Vai Avanti Tiamo). Little Mayzie had only just come out of her season, but we went for the experience. In the first heat she finished 3rd in 23.45, and in the second heat she even found another gear and finished 3rd in 23.37. That earned her the 5th-fastest time for the A final, which we were already very proud of! In the final, running with 6 dogs for the first time and so soon after her season, her tank was empty and she finished 6th. Still very proud of you, little dragon! Then our unlucky one of the year, Flappie. We stood on the start line with you with our hearts in our mouths. But Flappie thought: I'll show you there's no need to worry. In the first round he got a good start (something we're not used to from him at all) and finished first in 22.68. In the final he surprised us even more by flying out of the traps like a bullet; he led from start to finish and, just like last year, wins the European Champ Of Sand! We're not there yet, but with all the support we're getting, we'll get there! Thank you to everyone who kept believing in us!

Tahiti and Ryleigh raced in the same weight class today. A lot of questionable things happened today, to put it mildly. Ryleigh set the 6th-fastest time after the first round and Tahiti the fastest, in a new personal best of 21.56. In the second round another dog ran faster than Ryleigh, which dropped her into the B final – and she went on to win it with a brilliant start! The A final for Tahiti got off to a less pleasant start... When the lure was set off, it came off after a few metres, so the final had to be restarted. On the first attempt Akashi White was already metres clear, just like in Gelsenkirchen 2 weeks ago, and Tahiti had a bad start. In the rerun Tahiti had a much better start, kept pushing and won her race in the end!

This race rounds off Tahiti's (short) season. We are incredibly proud that we have brought her back to where she is now.

It was all hands on deck for us today. Tiamo ran, Ryleigh was back for the first time in the veterans' class after her puppies, and Tahiti was back for the first time since her injury in February. A few of Tiamo's children ran here today too.

Winsome Yankees Ollyster ( WY Doolin X VA Tiamo) won the B final in a beautiful race! Well done Oslo! Congratulations Thierry!

Forest Laws Velvet (Iowa GG X VA Tiamo) ran only her second race ever, and how she pulled it off! She won all 3 of her races today, and her final even gave me goosebumps!!❤️

Old Road's Ryleigh won her first race in a time of 18.25 and finished 4th behind the males in the final! Well done Lylo, now let's have some fun!

Vai Avanti Tahiti, what a girl you are! I felt sick all week from stressing about this day. Would she manage 3 runs, would her toe hold up?,... I couldn't eat a thing today from the stress🙈🤣

But as always, Vienna loves to prove me wrong! In the first run she had a bad start, but she quickly broke free and won in 21.85. In the second run she shot out like a cannonball and won in an even better time of 21.65! And with our hearts in our mouths we went into the final. She had a bad start in the final, but luckily she'd drawn the outside box and could pass everyone on the outside. Vai Avanti Tahiti wins the Champ of Sand 2024 in 21.92!❤️ We've come a long way, with months of rehab and lots of sweat and, above all, tears. I couldn't be prouder of where she is now! You're my one and only Vienna! ❤️

After a f*cking long day yesterday, everyone is safe and sound!

At 14.00 Lylo's waters broke, and just a minute later the first puppy was here. The next 3 quickly followed. Then, after almost 4 hours (yes, this was in consultation with the vet), we drove to the vet to give Lylo an injection of Oxytocin to help her get the last puppy out. More than 2 hours went by and still no puppy, so we drove back to the vet for an emergency caesarean. The last puppy showed no signs of life for the first half hour. Thanks to hard work from Keanu and me, he's now alive and kicking!

Let's start with the surprise of the day!

Vai Avanti Thiago ended up running 2 brilliant runs, both in 21.25! And he wins the club championship!

Vai Avanti Tahiti is coming back from her season (still a long way to go😅) and I was curious to see how her body would respond. In the first round she slipped in the traps but still won her round in 21.22. In the final her start still wasn't what it should be, but we'll get it back, and she won in 20.95. This means Tahiti has won the club championship for the 3rd time in a row❤️

Old Road's Ryleigh is also coming back after her season and did 2 training runs with her new starter, Alissia. It went really well: she ran 22.34 and 22.49 alongside a young dog.

Let's hope I can get both my girls back in shape for the last races of the season ❤️

Zowel Tahiti als Ryleigh liepen een proefronde om te zien wat ze doen na hun loopsheid. Ryleigh liep 18,72 en Tahiti 17,55.

Voor de competitie won Tiamo zowel zijn eerste als tweede ronde en had opnieuw een slechte start in de finale, maar vond zijn weg terug naar een tweede plaats!

Thiago eindigde als tweede in de eerste ronde met een geweldige start in 21.90, maar had in de finale dezelfde start als zijn broer en eindigde als 6e

Because of the bad weather, with the Beringen track completely flooded, it was decided at the last minute to move the race to Awans.

Last year in Awans both Tahiti and Tiamo won the title. Something I thought would never happen again. But my dogs have proved me wrong once more 😅

Tiamo, the lightest male of the day, ran in class 1, where 5 dogs were on the start line. In the first round he had another Flappie start 😅 but still won his round in 17.54, good enough for the fastest time. Then on to the final in the red jacket! Both Tiamo and Black Bullet got a great start and ran side by side until the last bend, where Flappie decided to switch on the turbo and win his race!

Tahiti ran in class 2 today. It was a bit of a gamble how she would do, as she's only 21 days out of her season. She won the first round in a nice time of 17.31. In the second round she needed more effort to get going but still won in 17.68. I went into the final with her with my heart in my mouth. She had a bad start in the final but still found her way to first place in 17.68. Now she really gets some well-deserved rest!

Vai Avanti Tiamo ran in the A-class dogs, where 5 dogs were on the start line, including Tiamo's son Winsome Yankees Oreo ❤️ Tiamo finished second in the first round in 22.80. In the final Kingston, Kyran and Tiamo all came together in the first bend, but Kingston and Kyran held the inside, which dropped Tiamo back to 5th place. Then he thought: oh no, we're not having that – and fought his way back to a fine 3rd place!

Old Road's Ryleigh and Vai Avanti Tahiti were on the start line for the sprinter bitches.

Ryleigh finished second in the first race and Tahiti won hers in a new track record of 22.324!!!🤩

In the final Ryleigh blew us away with her start, but Tahiti soon went past her 😅

Tahiti won the final in an even faster time of 22.305 and Ryleigh came a surprising 4th! Well done, girls!

CNBCL Awans

Vai Avanti Thiago ran in Awans today and finished second in the first round and in the final too, in a time of 21.93

On the start line for team Vai Avanti: Old Road's Ryleigh, Vai Avanti Thiago, Vai Avanti Tiamo and Vai Avanti Tahiti.

For the first and probably last time, Ryleigh, Tiamo and Tahiti all ran in the same weight class. Thiago finished second in his first round, just 0.01 behind the winner, and went through to the final with the second-fastest time. All 3 of our other dogs won their first round and went into the final with the first, third and fifth fastest times.

Both Tahiti and Ryleigh had a great start in the final, while Tiamo missed his start twice today. Once again there was a lot of bumping in the final, but Tahiti won the Dutch Grand Prix, Ryleigh finished 3rd and Tiamo 4th.

Unfortunately Thiago had the same start as his brother and finished 5th.

Wrv Munster

De eerste ronde was een geweldige race voor zowel Tiamo als Tahiti, Tiamo won zijn eerste ronde en had de 7e algemene tijd van de 14 reuen, dus het zou krap worden om in de finale te komen. Tahiti won ook haar eerste ronde in een volgens mij NIEUW TRACKRECORD van 21.45 maar helaas heeft Münster geen trackrecords meer… maar dat maakt me niet minder trots!

Tweede ronde Tiamo moest alles geven om in de finale te komen en dat deed hij! Met de 4e tijd in de finale! Tahiti miste volledig haar start in de finale toen ze met haar hele lichaam in de startbox bonkte, maar vocht zich een weg terug en werd 2e! Tiamo had een super start in de finale (iets wat we niet van hem gewend zijn😅) maar werd toen als een pingpongbal tussen alle anderen geramd en eindigde als 4e!

KVW Beringen

Thiago stond vandaag aan de start in Beringen en liet mooie dingen zien! Zowel zijn eerste als tweede ronde won hij in 21.70 maar kwam niet goed uit de finale en werd 4e! Hij krijgt het eindelijk onder de knie, dus uiteindelijk komt hij er wel!

On the start line this time: Old Road's Ryleigh, Vai Avanti Tiamo, Vai Avanti Tahiti & Vai Avanti Thiago.

Starting with the surprise of the day 😅 Vai Avanti Thiago finally understands what he has to do when he's running with other dogs 😂 He had a bad start in the final but fought his way back to second place, just 0.007 behind the winner!

Then the dog I always seem to underestimate 😅 When I saw the start list, I said to myself: OK, she'll be running in the B final 😅 But every time I say something like that, Lylo loves to prove me wrong 😅 and so she did! She went into the A final with the sixth-fastest time, even improved, and finished 4th!

Tiamo & Tahiti got to race in the same category. They both won their first round, and in the final they both had a terrible start 😅 but found their way through the field and finished 1st and 2nd!

What a way to start the season!

Today Tahiti and Ryleigh were on the start line. The first time both my girls ran together in the same class, which had 13 dogs today😅 In the first round Tahiti and Ryleigh both won their heats, Tahiti in a time of 21.80 and Ryleigh in 22.46 😍

In the second round they had to race each other. Tahiti came first in 21.85 and Ryleigh was pipped right on the finish line, finishing third in 22.63 (second dog 22.62). Then in the final both Ryleigh and Tahiti got a good start and finished first and third (Ryleigh beaten again just before the line 😂) I never expected what happened today. Ryleigh did so brilliantly that I think she was getting rid of all the frustrations of the past year 😅

Tiamo set the fourth-fastest time in the first round and Tahiti the fastest, but she took a heavy knock at the finish of that first race! I had her checked over and she was fine to run the final.

Tiamo had a bad start, but went all the way round the outside, arrived just a little too late and finished fourth!

Tahiti had a terrible start and had to find her way through the field from 5th place as she left the traps. She tried really hard and finished 3rd or, as someone said to me, 'OH, the best is only 3rd'. Vienna, you are an amazing dog and you will always be the best to ME!

Where do I begin.

This weekend we took part in the CGRC European Championship in Kallerup, Denmark.

We turned it into a little holiday and saw some beautiful places. I'd like to start with a shout-out to the team at the Kallerup track! What lovely, warm and helpful people!

I think Tiamo came out of the traps first for the first time in his life! I don't think he understood the Danish newspapers very well, so he just focused on the race!

Because of the bad weather that was forecast, the organisers decided to cancel the second round and put the top 6 dogs straight through to the final. Tiamo gave everything he had and finished 6th❤️

Vai Avanti Tahiti ran with the A sprinter bitches; unfortunately there were only 4 of them... (no idea where everyone was...) She ran 2 brilliant races and has finally got her start back (after her season)!

Tahiti won the Großen Preis von Gelsenkirchen 2022 in a time of 22.80!❤️

What a day! Our first trip in our new camper van, Flappie racing in the A class for the first time, and Vienna still coming back from her season.

Flappie won his first round in a nice time of 22.55, even improved on that in the second round with 22.45, and ran a brilliant final to finish 4th. I'm so incredibly proud of him!

Vienna, what a dog 🙈 She started the first round pretty badly, then got bumped in the first bend and nearly went down, but kept going and finished second. After checking her over everything seemed fine, so on to the second round – and there she was again, my Vienna: she flew away in a brilliant time of 22.11 and went through to the final in the red jacket. In the final the traps opened and she flew over the line first, so she can now call herself "Sandbahnmeisterin 2022"!
